This is a very remote island. Twice weekly flights. I do some work out in this region. This particular area they are surveying is rather close to town and I would suspect they will run into landowner and social issues if they ever try to mine this area. Strip mining would be pretty devastating to the local land use. The rest of the Island is sparsley populated but this particular area is. I read there are Taiwanese or Asian parties surveying for bauxite in other parts of the Island.
