MAKASSAR - Regional Company (Perusda) of South Sulawesi in cooperation with a gas company from Sengkang Regency, Energy Equity Epic Sengkang (EEES) PTY LTD designed the development of city gas in 8 regions (cities / districts) in South Sulawesi. 

This plan will be developed following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) carried out by Perusda South Sulawesi with a number of companies at Baruga Lounge, South Sulawesi Governor's Office, Monday (04/03/2019) yesterday. 

On this occasion the Head of Agreement (HoA) was signed with the CEO of Energy World Corporate Steward William Eliot on the Wasambo LNG Project. 

Together with EEES, South Sulawesi's Perusda will develop the oil and gas industry through the commerciality of the Sengkang Block. Installation of gas pipelines will be carried out from Sengkang Regency to Makassar. 

"Related to EEES, to optimize the source of Sengkang Energy processing including gas processing, and Perusda invests storege. And there is cooperation given to Perusda to distribute gas products," said Acting Director of Perusda Sulsel, M Taufik Fachruddin. 

He admitted that this plan is still supported by the availability of gas reserves in the Sengkang block which is still around 2.3 trillion cubic feet (TCF) and is guaranteed to support the large project. 

In the process of distributing gas, the plan to develop the city gas will go directly to people's homes through pipelines. So that people no longer buy LPG cylinders. 

"We will install pipes from Sengkang to Makassar. So the people can use it to turn the tap just like the PDAM works," said Taufik. 

In the early stages of city gas development, continued Taufik, it will begin in eight cities / regencies, namely Wajo, Soppeng, Parepare, Sidrap, Barru, Pangkep, Maros and Makassar. 

He also hoped that this plan would get the support of the central government through the state budget for the construction of network pipelines to customers. While the main pipe along the hundreds of kilometers from Sengkang to Makassar is expected to get support from investors. 

"After this signing, tomorrow (today) we and Mr. Andi (President Director of EEES) face SKK Migas, he determines the price and amount that can be taken. We capture this opportunity and will be optimized," he said.
