As long as they continue to perform well it is going to be pretty hard for activist investors to get much traction against them. While there are some draw backs to the Millners treating SOL like a family business I think that the trade off is worth it. I like knowing that they have such a large chunk of their own family wealth in the company so they are highly incentivised to see it continue to thrive. There really is no better way for the managements interests to be aligned with the shareholders and its better than paying themselves big bonuses while holding very little actual equity.
