Similar story here JC. Slight variation. Best May rainfall for many moons. On top of reasonable summer suboil moisture reserves. THEN ... 6 weeks of warm dry weather from June to 2nd week of July. Yield damage done ... THEN the kindest August_September period in memory with more than adequate rainfall. lots of sclerotinia around in canola, lots of powdery mildew in barley, lots of yellow spot/SN in wheat, plenty of fungicide has been splashed around.

End result, some very serious yield potential in WA. Hay is on the ground, swathing to begin in 1-2 weeks. Barley turning quickly. Now 5-10mm on forecast for Tuesday. Hay boys will be hoping to dodge that.

Noodle wheat $340/t. APW $305. Malt Barley $260. Canola $510.

Think a lot of growers will sell as much wheat as possible and carry canola and barley into 2014 hoping for a price kick.

WA dodged Jack Frost this year.

Been a shocker of a year for flies in sheep.
