I think the disadvantages inherent in bravado and overconfidence, combined with an incilnation for action, are so obvious (not to mention well documented), that they must confer a gender disadvantage to males. One that, yes, depression can probably subdue.
I haven't done the study, but im guessing that there are not too many successful alpha-male value investors. I'm hoping that my general distaste for alpha males and bravado, will mean that in spite of my gender, i will one day make the cut (as a successful value investor).
