1) pre-market - based on the previous days action / announcement etc I might be able to develop a short list of stocks potentially 'in-play'
2) in-market - based on the action in the current day, probably using a live data feed on movement, volume or both

So hopefully in this thread some of would be share both the tools and techniques (characteristics of the scan) that you use.
