its not hijacking its just pop up scripts redirecting your browser theres nothing to worry about, scammers buy these adds off each other since theyre already coded to direct the user to their number and its easier for them as the adds were made ages ago and considered greenflagged which is probably why hotcopper couldent recognize any threat.
I use firefox and it offers protection like a warning that you are about to be redirected to a untrusted website and you cant go there unless you check 2 boxes, as fore internet explorer i doubt they have anything which is why no one today should be using it
