Actually, what you say is correct. Tax should never interfere with a sound Investment / Trading decision (unless maybe you're a few days off L/T holding period...otherwise....fuhgeddaboudit.)
BTW, I think it's not related to FY, but duration >= 12 months is L/T, for which U get 50% discount.
