There are two contrary slogans about profits..(one above) and "no-one eve went broke taking profits". On the surface it makes sense....but say you bot BKL (not BLK) at $30...It doubled to $60...Hey 100%...great, SELL.
OK, you made nice money, But you'd have missed the ride to $220. If it were me, I have committed myself to a psych institution. In the late 90's in US - a mania admittedly, tech stock just rose, 10 baggers in one year...highly respectable companies...EMC, CSCO, others (JDSU - less well known, fiber optics, split after split after split.)...highly respectable...none were dotcoms....QCOM rose 2,614% in 1999!!!!....Sexiest thing on the planet - where wireless meets the Internet.....

I held all these, and more. This should not happen. 10 bagger or more, in 12 months. It was not normal. It was once in 100 years. But it was great, so long as you recognized that it was a mania, and the aftermath of a bursting bubble is always ugly, and know when to get out . I was naive, maybe greedy....I didn't. OTOH, we had never expected let alone witnessed an 85% fall in a major market index....unprecedented (BTW, the DOW fell 50%, too).
The winners will look after themselves, I think, is the better slogan.
So, which is correct? Think about it.
I hold PRU - a laggard...but haven't had it that long..... I do like ancient Greek names...Perseus, Medusa....wrote an Honors thesis on myth in Plato!!!!!! 1975!!!
BTW, I learned some new acronyms on HC...FOMO....I get that....it's playing the momentum...perfectly respectable....FONGO - hysterical acronym...Fear of not getting out....like in BKL, above... you made money, but probably ended up crazy, or pointing a gun at your head......given where it headed...
