seeker, here is the XGD chart:



XGD is heavily weighted to NCM (about 50% of Index). SBM is a top 10 ASX gold stock (by weighting) and together they make up over 90% of the XGD Index.

The XGD seasonality chart (below) is a real eye-opener and supports something I've known for a while. ASX Gold stocks are usually good buys in November or December (many bottomed by mid-Dec in 2017), however March through to end July are usually terrible. On explanation is that get out of gold stocks once Chinese NY comes around... (early-mid Feb).



On SBM's seasonality chart, usually June-July are its weakest months, with August-September being the strongest months (10 year average):


Will be interesting to see how it goes from here.
