"A recent entry to the portfolio was AirXpanders (AXP). AirXpanders manufactures and distributes AeroForm, an innovative medical device that’s used in the breast reconstruction process following a mastectomy. AeroForm represents a new method of expanding tissue prior to permanent implant and offers significant benefits over the traditional saline solution. We think this innovative product can capture significant market share in what is unfortunately a large market (given the number of mastectomies performed owing to breast cancer). AeroForm has been launched in Australia and progress has been impressive with over 70 surgeons now using the product across 35 hospitals and on December run-rate levels the company has achieved 20% market share. FDA approval is currently being sought which will allow access to the US market, while not without risk this is a significant catalyst for the stock. A decision by the FDA is expected in the 2Q of 2016."
