Obviously must be different big boys than the Packer/Murdoch little boys who copped a hiding on Onetel, lol?

It's good to be optimistic, but even James Packer questioned Ten's wisdom in going for the 5pm-7pm news format, and that was even before it started.

For a network which reinvented itself as the "youth station" it makes no sense now promiting itself as the "news" station because news is watched by older demographic. Young people do not watch tv news.

So far it has been a ratings failure. The scruffy "Uncle George" at 6 hasn't done it for anyone since he left 60 minutes.

His 6pm show is rating about the same as the Simpsons, but by comparison the Simpsons cost peanuts to put on.

The 6.30 news slot rates lower than did Neighbours at that same time, and Neighbours on Eleven is rating less than the 6.30 news does.

More channels does not necessarily mean more revenue-- probably the same advertising dollar spread more thinly.
