The Vancouver Sun has an interesting article Jan 6 on Robert Friedland & Oyu Tolgoi Mongolia's future development. The Ivanhoe Can. share price hit a two year high & closed at $ 17.54 Canadian because of speculation on the course of development. Citigroup has been hired to advise Friedland on the various "options"available. Whether to sell almost half to Rio Tinto, or to Chinese interests, as there is 2 to 3 billion $ until site works are ready in a few years. Or sell off some other IVN mine interests. One suggestion was to sell Ivanhoe's share of Ivanhoe Australia which would provide most of the funds required. It was pointed outthat Friedland made a fortune by selling Voisey Bay mine in Canada when it had reached a similar stage of development. It is notable that Mr. Friedland is not denying any of this speculation at the moment.
Can anyone speculate on the "ptions" available to the holders of IVA on the ASX ? Positive move for SP ? I'm surprised that no one has commented on this forum yet as the Canadian Ivanhoe has been very strong in the past few days. I don't hold IVA unfortunately & hesitate to talk about Mongolian developments as some Ozzie only holders don't like their valuable time wasted on foreign affairs. It will certainly have an effect on the SP one way or another.
