Pallister, dont know a great deal about the Blair nickel mine, but i do know the area as i used to have a small gold mining lease in the area. Great Boulder goldmines had a nickel deposit at Mount Martin which was mined by a vertical shaft in 1968/69. unfortunately the very high grade nickel sulphides had a high Arsenic content & this led to the closure of the mine. Blair is almost adjacent, but the nickel mined there doesnt seem to have had the arsenic problem. The area is littered with old gold mines & i believe with todays technology the potential for further discoveries of both nickel & gold is very high. Blair is situated half way between the Kambalda mill & the Kalgoorlie nickel smelter, haulage roads in the area are well established. If the original decline is opened up initial costs for refurbishment will be high, but the grades are good and if as forcast the nickel price continues to improve then PIO will have a mine.
