Bit more info on the grounds..says the area was granted after a 15 year application period? Why so long?

"In the Polar Bear project, an area of over 133 square kilometres, located between Higginsville and Norseman, and is surrounded by the major gold camps of Norseman, St Ives and Higginsville.

Sirius Resources has announced that it has discovered a significant zone of gold mineralisation at the Baloo Project on its 100 per cent owned Polar Bear project.


In late 2014, reconnaissance aircore drilling was performed at the site and as a result the company has confirmed the best zone of gold mineralisation in the region.

First drilling at Baloo prospect intersected thick, high-grade, near surface gold including 33 metres at 3.81 grams per tonne gold from 24 metres.

The drill holes are located approximately 10 kilometres from operating gold mine, Higginsville, in a district which has had approximately 30 million ounces of gold discovered in relative proximity to the north, south and west Eight drillholes end in gold mineralisation, with three of these grading 4-8 grams per tonne gold.

The discovery was made on unexplored ground on tenements recently granted to Sirius after a 15 year application period.

The area is relatively unexplored due to it being largely concealed by the shallow salt lake sediments of Lake Cowan and the sand dunes of the Polar Bear peninsula.

Sirius’ Managing Director Mark Bennett said, “This is by far the best gold zone yet found at Polar Bear."

"We have been looking forward to drilling this area for a long time given that it is one of our top targets, it was unexplored, it had been out of bounds during the modern era of gold exploration, and it is in a district with approximately 30 million ounces of gold discovered in relative proximity to the north, south and west of us”.
