If I had to take a guess. I don't think it is Trafigura bailing out. Quite the opposite. I suspect they have clout to organise meetings with the Korean consortium. DRC needs infrastructure to develop and expand mines. Trafigura has been spending significant dollars building related mining infrastructure, eg warehousing, etc. They are in the DRC for the long-term.
As the Koreans are not miners, they are attempting to secure minerals in exchange for infrastructure. Perhaps a JV with Trafigura and Anvil to supply copper in exchange for refurbishment &/or development of Mutoshi where we have some interest. Note Katanga Mining also had meetings.
