Syrian air defense system's are integrated with Russian systems that is a fact (Russia has overriding control). So its highly highly unlikely for a blue on blue scenario regardless what the 'offical' narrative becomes.

Transponder codes prevent scenario's like these. This is why Turkey wants the S400 for example as their existing NATO software prevents them targeting assets used by other NATO countries or other counties that use the same stuff (they can't be locked on).

The big difference is that the Syrian government can't call up Russian S400 and other air assets they don't have access too. This may change now.

There is a lot of false info out there with no credible understanding of how air defense systems operate.
