Censorship in the western media is fairly commonplace these days. You can also check out the Integrity Initiative scandal for a recent censored example (UK Government funded political targeting of the opposition, plus more scandals). Fortunately they don't seem to actively target people on the Internet yet unless its too scandalous. its mainly systemic passive filtering these days fortunately.
