@Poet - I put that news item on a separate thread, not meaning to detract from your very important contribution here.

I would like to add a comment from my attendance at a Brisbane workshop.
Ross himself is as large as life, no not physically, in fact he looks just like a geologist who climbs mountains in the Andes would look, but by his intensity and by the strength of his commitment. He also comes well equipped with large maps and geotech images. Although most have been published in anns, to see a table sized version where Ross can point out things like the inferred location of the faults and the limestone beds and comment on the importance of the  associated geology brings the whole magic of R to light like nothing else could.

Thank you for your effort, and to Ross for doing his best for people who could not attend his workshops.
