I have a general question regarding depths and grades if anyone has any knowledge on it, as I am still learning how to interpret these kinds of data.

How am I to understand an assay that says
    “ROD 1.3m @45.4g/t from 0.5m, including 0.4m @144.5 g/t” or
    “ROD 1.3 @4.8 g/t from 21.1m”

The depths seem to be pretty small (0.5m for example) with very high grades, whilst some of the longer depths appear to have lower grades, does this mean that the gold deposit is likely near surface (indicating cheaper extraction if it is continuous)?

I understand we won’t be able to know for sure until management has mined and processed much more ore and defined it to a better extent but I am generally curious as to how that reads to others and how to interpret it for my own deeper understanding.
