I agree that what you describe can be a good tactic to get rid of a large parcel in a thinly traded stock. I'm not sure that is what happened here.

If you look at the course of trades you will see that it wasn't a single large seller offloading to a bunch of smaller buyers who had been lured into the fray on a rising price. The 700k sale was to three single buyers, one of which was for 668k.

That does not indicate some unsophisticated follower caught up in the heat of the moment. That was a single buy to the value of $501,000. If it was a hotcopper newbie caught up in a ramp, then they are a serious newbie.
