Sounds like you came along and stuffed up the party.
I'm only theorising here and am happy to hear credible alternatives.
Somebody put up one share for sale at 80c. You came along with a buy order for 8000, got this one share and 7999 of someone elses sell order. They might have been happy with this but then someone bought 50,000 at 79c and wrecked the whole staged performance, so at 15:59 they put up another single share at 80c and then bought it as the final trade for the day, therefore artificially raising the closing price.
Am I seeing manipulation where it doesn't exist?
