Marine industrial electrification (non-diesel) of shipping and port facilities IMO is gathering more momentum - with localised renewable power sources needed to replenish battery storage and improve environmental standards. Large scale WEC devices may conflict spatially with port operations, so Protean might play a more benign role here - able to intersect less obtrusively within the harbour water environs. Batteries are also technically overcoming the tyranny of distance for shipping as they become more efficient and we all know how charged up (excuse the pun) the lithium and cobalt demand is at present.
