can anybody recommend any exchanges which are efficient?

recently joined btc markets and joined coinspot tonight, but after doing all the verification run around which is normal, I then read it may take up to 2 weeks and that coinspot are no longer taking aud deposits so a little suprised they never said anything before signing up.

any exchange recommendations here at all with regards to best or quickest validation, low fee's and also good protection with wallets as well as little issues in transferring to other exchanges if need be?

had a nice read at ripple and looks quite nice though wish I had acted a little earlier as a mate told me about this a couple weeks back so any feedback on do and donts about any exchanges appreciated.
