I believe he never intended the information to be publicised beyond the conference. He may not be aware that an announcement has been made on the Australian Stock Exchange, given how far away that is from his normal concerns. I think that you cannot infer from this post that he believes a public release would not compromise the study, only that he believes no information has been made public.
