Agreed.....Kellogs and Colgate are not going to run at a loss....why would they??? Might as well pull the stock from the shelves than run at a loss, but that won't happen either.

A major factor in Woolies current position is the absolute and utterly inept management that is (hopefully) being turned around. The previous CEO was the most ineffective in the history of Woolies and that flowed through the organisation. I recently read an article that highlighted the stupid, stupid, stupid decisions of management in the past few years e.g. Sunday is now the busiest trading day yet customers were abandoning their trolleys as there were far too few check-outs in action because they didn't want to pay Sunday rates for check-out staff. How much per hour does a check-out person earn??? Is it that much that the customer is ignored?? And surely the emphasis on Sunday trading didn't occur overnight, surely that evolved over a period of time and that being the case, where were the shiny bums who make the management decisions? Oh yeah, that's right, it was Sundays.....they don't work on Sundays....that's for the plebs.

Don't underestimate the power of the instos to get change happening in management....they hold a lot more power than people give them credit for.

I guess people have to accept that change in the size of a company like Woolies does not reflect itself at the cash register in an instance.
