basically what you are saying is that suppliers are the ones who will be the "shock absorbers' to any price war, which in theory is true , but it can work in reverse also.
you must remember that Woolies or Coles can only squeeze a certain amount --Colgate, Kelloggs or whoever else are not going to run at a loss, just as much as Woolies or Coles are not going to risk losing them as suppliers.
it"s a balancing act and that is why they have no option but to try and cut each others throats.
