There is definitely a major commercial market opportunity in Sydney, however, if you have your hands full in the US, there is no way you can even think about making high level pitches to contractors and major concrete suppliers to these projects. They would flood EdenCrete with requests for info, technical support, testing, regulatory issues etc. and if they didn't get top class and immediate service they would quickly go elsewhere. Such a result would be catasprophic for the image of both EDE and EdenCrete and possibly have far reaching implications.
The initial decision to go to the US big time, and thus put all EdenCrete's eggs in one basket, essentially ruled out every other country, at least in the short term. In fact I was somewhat surprised that EdenCrete decided to commence negotiations and testing in Korea. My feeling here is that there is a rather large carrot to be had in Korea if the testing is successful.
I share your frustration about the missed opportunities in Sydney. In fact I nearly cried after going on two separate two hour tours of both sites and seeing how much readymix and precast concrete had already been used.
In the end, it was GS's decision to concentrate solely on the US and turn his back on everything else. Only time will tell if this decision was a stroke of genius or a blunder of epic proportions.
