Seems to be an old story.

European launches 2018 lithium lithium reduction in Austria
The European company plans to start 2018 lithium in Austria the degradation of lithium. The deposits in Wolfsberg holds some 17 million tonnes of lithium ore that is much sought after in the Akkuproduktion for electric car.

The more it is important to use Lightweight batteries with high power capacity, the more lithium-ion batteries come to the course. Lithium is used but also in the production of glass and ceramics on a large scale. Worldwide, some 150,000 metric tons of the metal are needed.
So far, still no significant lithium mining is conducted in Europe. But that should change soon. In Austria, the mining and smelting of lithium are prepared.

Holds 17 million tonnes of lithium ore deposit in Wolfsberg

The Austrian deposits were discovered in the 1980s. Several owners at a time considered the dismantling. But only the demand made the deposits in Wolfsberg interesting after lithium for the batteries of electric cars. It includes approximately 17 million tonnes of lithium ore so that the employment of the mine including the smelting for at least twelve years would be assured.
Steve Kessler, head of the society of European lithium, which owns the site, it stands out that is in Wolfsberg isn't a project on a greenfield site. "European lithium is a subsidiary of the European mining company GSM and can build on the work of previous owners." Kessler is also confident that the demand for lithium and prices remain stable.

The start of production is planned in 2018

European wants to take lithium over the London Stock Exchange side, the so-called AIM market, six million euros. The shares to be placed in London correspond to around 16 percent of the share capital of European lithium, that should make up around £32 million after the IPO. Kessler, seeks to gain new shareholders for this 16 percent. The production is planned for the year 2018 in Wolfsberg.
The more lithium in the world is required, the more work in all over the world also on the development of new deposits. Tesla is seeking for the gigantic factory for the manufacture of lithium-ion batteries, the group together with Panasonic in Nevada plans to find lithium in the United States. Whether this will succeed, is still in the stars.
In Europe, lithium in Portugal is so far produced in very small quantities. A lithium mining in Finland will be discussed for a long time. The mining group Rio Tinto has an own deposit in Serbia, which is but long not dismantling ready. Wolf Mountain is likely to be the first significant lithium mining in Europe so.
