The govt tendering process can be slow and unwieldy, and expensive for both government and tenderers. A more efficient approach might be select a panel of authorised suppliers for, say, a 3 to 5 year contract period, with agreed contract terms and conditions, and a streamlined process for these suppliers to bid for individual projects as they come up.
Or maybe Western Power or Horizon Power could chose a single vendor to supply microgrid solutions for the next 3 to 5 years. It would certainly speed up the project delivery process (not having to have a complete competitive tendering process for every project no matter how big or small) and reduce overhead costs for both parties.
