Hi gannp,
Apologies if my sarcasm came thru, you just happened to walk through the cross hairs at the wrong time. I just get frustrated reading some of these HC threads about lack of communications and companies ignoring share holders, etc. You are obviously frustrated with BPH progress (as am I) and have tried to get some information back from the company via e-mail. DB has made an offer to talk with you on the phone, this is excellent, take the opportunity. (Maybe DB is posting on his intranet with his office buddies "e-mailed SH with phone number, what a bunch of plonkers, wish we could get some real proactive shareholders, been 2 days no reaction", "we live and work for or shareholders, don't they acre about their business") sorry gotta keep that sarcasm in check (attempt at humor to lighten the mood).
Anyway:
* I talk to quite a lot of CEO's, they don't bite and are genuinely interested in telling you about the company vision, etc.
* Typically a face to face or phone conversation is better than say e-mail:
a) E-mail is one way communication, with phone you can ask questions of clarification or for more detail. In my opinion a much better deal
b) on the phone you can get a feel for where a CEO wants to take a company
c) on the phone a director can typically be more expansive, e.g. in a e-mail a director might say, we haven't done an IPO due to prevailing market conditions, where in a phone conversation he might say something like we have been looking at xyz that are listing next week to give us a feel of the acceptance of pharma IPO's expect news at ABC conference and USDA process application and on completion of that which should be,.... then we can look at a more solid timetable,....etc.
* As you mentioned you feel more confident in your written skills than your verbal skills. You don't have to be Kerry on Lateline, these guys generally want to tell their story, so you don't need a whole bunch of tricky questions. I suggest make yourself a list of bullet points of what you want to know and work thru them with David. If he doesn't answer your question ask it again or say you don't understand what he means with whatever.
* Whether O&G or bio, building these little businesses into something is a long hard slog, with promotion, funding, etc. It's not just a matter of build it and they will come. You may agree or disagree, but DB has been doing the hard yards here. Both industries are highly speculative and high risk, bear that in mind.
p.s. I have never talked with DB, but we have had a few e-mail conversations over the years, he is a reasonable man.
p.p.s. would be interested in what he says
p.p.p.s as those here know my trading strategy for BPH is to pick up a whole lot cheap around end of June as others take tax losses (don't know whether that will play out or not, but that is why I am happy to sit (mostly) quietly in my corner for now)
