Just saw an interesting interview on ABC tv on their weekly segment INSIDE BUSINESS with Alan Kohler, he interviewed ASIC chairman Tony D'Aloisio for around 13 minutes, he squirmed in his seat a few times when Kohler asked about Onetel, Fortesque, AWB, and the introduction of the new exchange. He also made mention that more than 25 staff are being recruited from the ASX for the big ASIC takeover as the policeman/regulator, even wages topic was brought up. Kohler gave the ASIC chairman a blood nose, but didn't quite land the knockout punch. D'Aloisio boasted how since Jan 2009 ASIC had prosecuted...wait for it...a whole 13 cases (Kohler referred to them as points, not GOALS). D'Aloisio also said his term expires May 2011, no doubt he'll get a big fat pay cheque on his retirement and pass the baton on to the next wood duck. I see scores of manipulations and illegal trades DAILY, and that's just the little stocks that i happen to be watching! Unfortunately Alan didn't quiz him about algo trading, was a golden opportunity for all to see. Alan Jones is the man, just got to sool him onto ASIC. I dont this the program is repeated on ABC, perhaps the transcript may become available online ?
