Solar and Wind farms have a larger environmental foot print then coal fired power station. Some people would consider this as a form of pollution. These type of generation need to be situated on unproductive land which means a great distance from where the demand is.
I recall a Spanish company off loading its wind farm due to changes in the wind pattern and making its operation unviable.
