Y . You need to consider that solar and wind are not actually free . Yes , the energy that they capture is essentially free , however the apparatus used to collect it is not .

If it was that simple our energy producers would have done this years ago . Before you suggest that the energy producers are in cahoots with the coal industry , consider that there are plenty of other disruptor companies out there that would have started doing this if it was at all viable .

The infrastructure needed to create the surplus energy in order to make this system function at baseload level would result in the energy produced costing multiples of coal fired energy . It's all about the numbers .
