I think you will find that all these trades go thru during the pre-CSPA they can thru late but those trades are surrounded with compliance ie filtering of block trades etc but there are programmes out there that try to pick up or sell stock at a profit on the closing ie buy $300 worth of stock and sell it first thing in the morning..these alogrithms are complicated and that trade may only generate $20 profit but times that by 2000 stocks per day and you have a huge money making machine per annum...it doesn't matter which stock these programmes will seek it out!
