Point is, locals and "boots on the ground" know far more than your "questionable" research you say you have done using Google or by what the company is spruiking to you.

The easy gold and silver is long gone. The man made mountain on the edge of Durango aptly named "Smelter Mountain" is proof of that. Back in the day, ore was transported to Durango for processing. Smelter or any mining infrastructure does not exist except maybe on a small operating mine site if you can find one. The train used to transpor thte ore to the smelter is now a tourist train. But you would know that through all your research.

Maybe the martians you lived with on the moon told you "there's gold up in thar hills".

Would have to be a significant discovery to get the town's folk excited.
