'Secondhand car sales accelerate
New vehicle sales volumes across the industry have fallen for five consecutive months compared with the same months in 2017. The latest figures out on Wednesday from the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries showed national vehicle sales in September were 94,711 vehicles, down 5.5 per cent compared with September, 2017. On a year-to-date basis the market is now 0.9 per cent lower than for the first nine months of 2017.

Australia's biggest car dealership group, the ASX-listed Automotive Holdings Group, which runs 113 dealerships, is stepping up its investment in a network of fixed-price used car warehouses under the easyauto123 brand in preparation for rising demand.
AHG sold 48,873 used cars in 2017-18, up from 45,257 a year earlier. New car sales were down slightly to 86.076 vehicles, compared with 86,372 a year earlier. AHG managing director John McConnell said the group continued to invest in the easyauto123 business, where revenues increased to $262 million from $51 million the year before and there were a lot of opportunities in a "heavily fragmented" used car market.'
