The changes to the electricity utility's operating comceptual model when roof top and solar farm PV becomes a no-brainer for every householder and wouldbe generator.
The current model of pushing the necessity for central generation plants and resistance to carbon levies, will be unsupportable when a very large chunk of daytime power for residences (30% of demand) and commercial/light industrial (guessing about the same) is generated by the user.
Baseload plants will then run large industrial (smelters, 24/7 mills) with a major increase in gas plants for the evening peak 5pm-10pm.
Who would fund one of these baseload plants when the threat of decent energy storage for night use is getter closer to reality?
