ADVANCED BRAKING SECURES ADR TYPE APPROVAL FOR

    WASTE TRUCK BRAKES

    FINALIST FOR INNOVATION AWARD

The good news continue to roll for Advanced Braking Technology Ltd (ASX: ABV), with their industry leading sealed wet braking system for waste trucks.

ABT has recently been granted Commonwealth Department of Transport and Infrastructure ADR approval for their waste truck brakes for Iveco ACCO 6x4 and are able to fit a Second Stage Manufacturer Compliance plate. This is under ADR 35/03 – compliance of commercial vehicle braking systems.

This Type Approval enables ABT or its authorised agents to fit their waste truck brakes to any new “IVECO Acco 6x4” (approval # 45695) and “IVECO Acco 6x4 Dual Control” (approval # 45696) vehicle across Australia.

As brakes are the second biggest expenditure after fuel for garbage truck fleet operators, there are real tangible benefits and financial savings to be made from the SIBS technology (the Seal Integrated Braking System). The ABT Truck Brakes potentially eliminates the need for brake overhauls (compared to every 6 months on standard brakes). In fact, the studies and trials that have ABT have undertaken with their customers can save waste truck fleets up to $15,000 per annum – per truck. This because the braking system encloses key components – the single rotor, brake callipers and brake pads – within a casing containing the SIBS fluid. This fully enclosed wet brake technology enables a cooler operating temperature, essential to longer lasting, low maintenance and safer braking.

In another coup for the ASX listed company, ABT has also been selected as a finalist for the Innovation Award for the Australian Waste & Recycling Expo (AWRE) taking place at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre in November.

Sam Leighton, General Manager for ABT’s Truck Division, says that the ABT waste truck brakes have been stringently tested and validated.

“Our waste truck brakes are designed and certified to exacting ADR requirements, and to be recognized by the Waste Industry for an award that delivers not only innovation but also genuine savings to the bottom line shows that we’ve got a really compelling product.”

Recently, ABT has secured orders for several local councils and commercial operators in NSW, QLD and WA for their waste truck brakes.
