We will have to agree to disagree. I don't subscribe to all the conspiracy theories. Whilst I do agree that traders may try to manipulate the market, at the end of the day it is a free market and they are allowed to do so. It is a risky strategy - if they sell shares they already own to push the price down, they run the risk that the price may spike aggressively higher (eg Kerry Stokes seeing value and buying big), in which case they will be unable to buy back in unless they pay up big. Likewise, if they short sell shares they don't already own and the price rises aggressively, they are likely to lose their shirts!
