Dmosman .. Zwu is correct , these companies get a 5% management thats it when it comes harvesting .
The woodchip price is good , because it gives some substance to the investment from the " growers " point of view , and could therefore have a more positive effect " potentially " on Sales results . The most important thing here is the grower , if the returns are NOT reasonable then whole thing falls in a heep .This has certainly been a factor with regard to MIS in general , Im sure Alpha C could tell you more about that , as could ZWU .
Im happy to see an increase because I have a fair amount of money invested in MIS over 10 years . It is only ever a Tax defferal , the total return is taxable at the end of the project ,Including the original investment amount .
No advantage whatsoever to TIM/GTP with regard to loans to growers , seperate issue altogether , these are secured against your interest in the project . Default rates are very small .
My only interest in all this these days , is my interest as a " grower " and a very small holding of TIM in a SMSF . I no longer hold any GTP .
TIM/GTP and GNS are all in the same business , little difference .GNS just cuts " some " old growth , but their future ( possibly slowly ) is in Plantations .
