The units appear to hold the registered owner on a particular date responsible to pay the next installment. So what transpires before is incidental, like me selling a share to someone and the company goes broke next week.

If the charity, from reading the 'it is a strong and viable project' company announcements, feels it is worth taking on the units it is up to them.

But when you transfer your units before the deadline it is not your concern what the new owner has in mind.
