Sitting next to me on the plane from Joburg to Gaborone last...

Sitting next to me on the plane from Joburg to Gaborone last vist ( August ),was a chap from the ministry of trade ( Botswana government ) who was returning from a meeting in Beijing on Chinese/Botswana trade agreements . He must have been in a senior position for this was his 3rd trip . I'm a chatty bloke and got around to asking him if he thought the government would close BCL. He stated categorically no, saying the social affect on the area would be devastating and cost the government much more in the long term than providing some assistance in the short term. Also the political ramifications would be far reaching for the ruling party . Seen to be doing some tweaking could be on the cards though !
