Congratulations to all the posters and to Hot Copper Admin for creating this forum. The only way we will get things changed is for the politicians to see " some votes " in it.
Pollies love to run with popular opinion ( especially those in opposition ) if enough " noise " gets made pretty soon the media will jump on board.
Maybe we need to get Fevola or Matty Johns involved in some Algo trading scandal LOL.
Poster gwaihir said !
" Betfair (a betting exchange in the UK) saw such a large amount of traffic coming from bots they launched a WebService API aimed at bot programmers through which Betfair can actively manage these bots. So the ASX (or any government monitoring system), if it wished to do the same, could actively manage all bot activities. The software technology to do so is reasonably straight forward and available. "
Therein lies the Rub ! Bots are costing betfair and EBay heaps of $$$$ in lost profit and customer dissatisfaction .ASX on the other hand actually profits from Algo trading.
So the technology to properly monitor it is there all we need is the will of the politicians to instigate it.
Keep up the work and fight the good fight guys
Cheers Hoot
