This makes no sense. I can't see any "correct structure" for having a margin loan over the past six months. And I know because I have one. With the benefit of hindsight, the only "correct structure" to have had in the past six months would have been to refinance the margin loan with a bigger loan on the house instead. No margin calls that way. Still would have the losses in the market. But structuring it that way, it would not actually be a margin loan any more.
