I'm not completely familiar with the QLD process - others might be able to comment. Looks like Dept of Natural Resources and Mines also has some responsibility for some environmental issues groundwater/vegetation management etc.
I suppose my point is that the Dept will work through all the issues, tick all the boxes, as required by legislation. However the Minister for Natural Resources and Mines is ultimately in control of the Dept and there is always the danger that there is a 'political' reason for the project to be delayed.
Alternately Labor Government policy might want to expedite the project. The Minister would then just rubber stamp the approval.
I really hope that it all goes through - the company has jumped through hoops to get this far.
