PetePan, however the Paris Metro Line 1 is mixed mode and not considered truly driverless, the guard has to literally flick the switch between stations, there r still unions and a labour force, so the comparability with Paris Metro Line 1 and people in Australia having driverless cars and not having to "drive" their cars and creating bingles is quite remote IMHO but pls DYOR. U would still need repairs in fact on the Docklands Light Rail (DLR) with the SPADs (see below), there might be more bingles as the computer stuffs up.
Re DLR in West London, England, the contractor, Serco, had a similar type system and the guards got roughly 70% of pay of the tube drivers not considering overtime, penalty rates and the like. But there were so many SPADs Signals Passed At Danger, due to the computer not working effectively that in truth, Serco who runs the contract, was considering going back to drivers if they were to recommit to the franchise to avoid the safety regulators' complaints. Again, driverless cars are a long bow if u consider the Paris Metro Line 1 and DLR scenarios.
Can u buy these robot vacuum cleaners on ebay? Must get one.
