Edwards is merely a figurehead and judging by PPL's performance, a poor one at that. His experience reads like someone who cut their teeth and thrived in the pre-mobile phone era, as many board members tend to do and has lived off that since about 2010. Not to sound ageist but these people are just old and past it as many board members are. What they might have in business acumen they lack in tech speak, which is vital to understand and articulate in this era. The market is too competitive, too switched on and progressive for Edwards to get his head around. I am sure that Paul Chan certainly gets it but he's outta there and isn't coming back anytime soon. If he was to come back I think PPL's fortunes would turn around as I would hazzard a guess and say he's all over the blockchain or has certainly considered how to weave it into PPL's offer.
In short, Edwards' experience is basically useless in this omnichannel, highly fragmented and soon to be blockchain era. This isn't a personal attack at Edwards. I am simply commenting on the quality of his experience. I would favour someone with recent relevant experience and some business acumen over Edwards' 30 years. I doubt Edwards has played with a dataset, written a snippet of code, run some data analysis....and don't tell me you don't need to do anything of this to be successful. In this world you have to understand what's underneath the bonnet. If you haven't got your hands dirty, how on earth can you sell any of it.
Brontech would run rings around PPL put it that way. It would be a total takeover and PPL could only offer their panel list.
