Sydney's autumn carnival rode on the back of improved race programming, promotions and Tabcorp betting initiatives to produce all-time record TAB sales.

Hard to believe (dare i say 'unbelievable') this is the breakdown:
Golden Slipper Day broke the magical $20 million barrier for the first time;
TAB betting on the Coolmore Classic meeting soared more than 36 per cent to $12.5 million; and
Overall betting rose on each Saturday of the STC and AJC carnivals.
The TAB betting turnover figures were achieved despite wet weather which plagued the autumn carnival, particularly on Slipper Day.
TAB sales for Sydney Saturday meetings reached $90.927 million - an encouraging 11.5 per cent increase on 2008 returns.
