There are instruments which track the oil price without the default risk of the minors like AKK. These could in fact benefit from a few defaults in the US oil space.
Horses for courses though, and I note I still hold AKK from 3-ish cents pre-consolidation ha ha. They appear to be in more sheet than Batman.
